A Study In Gold - Unlocking Herta
If you are looking for a good use for all that extra Bloodstone Dust you have stuck in your bank and inventory, getting your hands on Herta is a great way to clean that up!
Getting Started / A Study In Gold
To get started on your journey to unlocking the Gobbler Herta, you will need to start the achievement "A Study In Gold". This can be started by talking with Sage Laural near Westgate.
He will give you an item called Auric Viewer which will allow you to interact with tablets that have "The Final Speech of the Last Forgotten to the Exalted," transcribed by Bogani the Walker of Vabbi, scattered around Tarir
*You must have this item in your inventory to do this achievement
Tablet 1
After receiving the Auric Viewer from Sage Laural you can start finding the tablets hidden around the area!
Westgate: Next to Sage Laural
The First Tablet is directly behind Sage Laural
"You who stand before me are remarkable. We have tested you by trial, and you have pledged to a cause that will change you forever."
Tablet 2
Legacy Pillars: Southwest
The second tablet is on one of the four pillars in the Forgotten City, it will be very easily accessible with a Skyscale (this is true with most tablets) if you want to fly up from below. To get to the tablet without Skyscale start at the Southgate PoI [&BPYHAAA=], jump and glide going northwest and then head northeast towards the center of the city. The tablet is close to the center of the city
"The Elder Dragonsrise again, and you are called by Glaust to ensure the survival of Tyria. We are entrusting our aspirations for the future with you, the Exalted, our most loyal defenders."
Tablet 3
Legacy Pillars: Southeast
To get to the tablet without Skyscale start at the Southgate PoI [&BPYHAAA=], jump and glide going northeast and then head northwest towards the center of the city. The tablet is close to the center of the city
"You look upon me and see the sunset of our race. I am the last of the Forgotten. It has been millennia since our true name was last spoken aloud, and soon we will be no more. No, do not mourn. We will live on in your work, in your words, and in your battles."
Tablet 4
Legacy Pillars: Northwest
To get to the tablet without Skyscale start at the Northgate PoI [&BMkHAAA=], head southwest and then southeast towards the center of the city
"Together, we took the first step toward safeguarding against the six that mean to drain this world completely of its magic. One day, you alone will take the final step. The bar of success or failure balances upon your shoulders."
Tablet 5
Northgate: Where Water Flows Vertically
This tablet is hidden behind a waterfall, you can access this one by running east from the Northgate PoI [&BMkHAAA=], and jumping from the bridge and gliding into the waterfall.
"In olden times, when the Dragons stirred, it fell to the Seers to set aside a reservoir of magic for the upcoming drought. Glaust herself was a defender of civilization, at great risk to herself. She understood the potentially dire costs of betraying Kralkatorrik, but she put the world's welfare ahead of her own."
Tablet 6
Eastgate: Where the Falls End and Nature Begins
Drop down from the Eastgate PoI [&BOMHAAA=], and get right to the top of the slight hill and head south
"We do not have the divine resources needed to imbue a new Bloodstone with enough magic to prevent Tyria from declining into a state of primitive adversity. And so we allied with Glaust, a magical being of great power, to find a way."
Tablet 7
Eastgate: A Great View of a Mighty Tree
Very close to Tablet 3 above, you just have to go backwards, up some stairs and it will be just on the east side ledge
"Glaust has been known by many names, and even we do not know her true name. She is called Glint in these modern times and she entrusted us with using her legacy for Tyria. We, however, have no guarantee—only hope—that by her legacy we will save Tyria from the desiccation of its magic."
Tablet 8
Southgate: Tucked Away Southwest
Starting from the Southgate PoI [&BPYHAAA=], go down the stairs towards the Westgate, there will be a small hidden room on your left about halfway there.
"We began our journey among the magical canyons of the Lost Precipice, and when it no longer served us, we moved on."
Tablet 9
Westgate: The Way Has Decayed Unless You Fly
From the Westgate PoI [&BO0HAAA=], go down the Northeast ramp. Face to wards the center of the map, and glide around the right wall, and do a 180 degree turn and you will see a small hidden room/platform. *Skyscale will make this one very simple to get to*
"En route to our final destination, we sheltered in a hollow and performed the exalting rituals, but ultimately, we left there as well. One day, Tarir will no longer serve us, and you will move on. Do not fear that day. When it comes, you will know that your purpose has been fulfilled."
Tablet 10
Southgate: Entrance
Right in front of the Southgate PoI [&BPYHAAA=] entrance.
"And when we arrived here, you created a city worthy of Glint's pride. Your work here pleased and humbled me and the other Forgotten."
Tablet 11
Northgate: Entrance
Right in front of the Northgate PoI [&BMkHAAA=] entrance.
"We raised this haven at the edge of Mordremoth's jungle, but no Elder Dragon can touch us here. Our magic shields the city from them. Here you will wait in stasis for the signs, and much time may pass before you awaken to the call."
Tablet 12
Southgate: You'll Only Be Able to Reach This from Very High Up
Head southwest from the Westgate entrance, use the bouncing mushrooms to reach the Luminate's Throne. Run up to the Mastery Point at the top of the stairs, from here jump and glide towards the southwest corner of Tarir (you will need Advanced Gliding Mastery), look for it on a platform lit up by a torch.
This can be done without Advanced Gliding if you seek out small ledges along the way to stop and regain stamina.
"Your friends and families have no less important a charge. The Brotherhood of the Dragon passed its mantle on to them. They are the first guardians of the egg, and only once it nears its time will they deliver it to you."
Tablet 13
Luminate's Throne: The Jungle Grows Even Up Here
Just like for Tablet 12, use the bouncing mushrooms to get the Luminate's Throne, then head left from the staircase before the Point of Interest. The room is hidden behind some bushes.
"They're calling themselves the Zephyrites after the gentle, ever-moving breeze of their homeland, and none but their inner circle will know their secret mission. It may be generations before you are reunited with their descendants, but they are committed."
Tablet 14
Northgate: Where We Lay Our Masks to Rest
You can only get to this one when the city is preparing defenses - requires the mastery Exalted Acceptance. From Forgotten City Waypoint [&BMYHAAA=] walk north up the stairs, and go left Turn left again at the second set of stairs, than go right at the top of that staircase. Now look for "Exalted Bastion [Adventure]" npc to enter the Fallen Masks area, the tablet will be at the highest ledge on the north side of the room.
"Glint's legacy is far more than just her offspring, and you must protect it all. The legacy's potential will only be realized in the fullness of time when all its pieces have developed and become defined in response to the world around them."
Tablet 15
Trial Rooms: Heavy Foliage Hides This One
You will have to wait until after the Battle in Tarir meta has been completed, drop down into the hole to get under the city (where all of the chests are after the meta). The tablet will be after the Mastery Point, behind the door that is normally sealed, you will see some bushes at the first turn, go behind those.
"The legacy's most essential elements will seed the new dawn of civilization. This is the precious treasure we leave in your hands. You must preserve it with no expectation of laurels. You too will be forgotten once your duty is done."
Tablet 16
Trial Rooms: Glint's Words Guide Us
Drop down into the hole in the middle of the city by the Forgotten City Waypoint [&BMYHAAA=] and go towards the dead end/golden room before Aurene's Room by heading southwest
"As the last Forgotten, I have come to understand the vastness of history and the ephemeral nature of truth. Stories of your deeds will warp in retelling. But, you do not do this to leave your mark."
Tablet 17
Inner Chamber: One Day There Will Be Another
This tablet will require you to have the Exalted Markings mastery completed, you will find this one by taking the exalted portal to the Inner Chamber (from the same room you just found Tablet 16) in here the tablet is at the very back of the room.
"You do it to ensure that this world you love continues on after you're gone. Glint's dream of a harmonious future can come to pass. Now you carry the torch of her benevolence."
Where Exalted Dare
Once you are finished collecting all 17 Tablets you will finally be able to unlock Herta.
You will need to go to Eastwatch Waypoint — [&BGwIAAA=] and head North towards Vinetooth Den [&BPEHAAA=], go inside the cave and look for Herta's remains on the floor.
